Skywalk Allgäu: getting up close with the trees.
The Skywalk Allgäu in Germany has been constructed in a park where people can spend a day in close contact with nature. A vertical structure to climb up to – and along – the treetops to discover new views and to get to know our environment.

The lower alps near Lake Constance offer a natural setting of rare beauty. So, a leisure park was constructed in the municipality of Scheidegg, Bavaria, with the mission of bringing people into close contact with nature, and developing their awareness of it.

Some of the attractions include a walk to take barefoot, games and agility courses for all ages, along with a guest refreshment centre. But the one that really stands out is the “Skywalk”: a 540 m long, 1.6 m wide pathway amongst the treetops.

An imposing, 35-metre tall tower with a lift that takes you up to the departure platform means that even people who are wheelchair bound and families with small children can enjoy the walk. The skywalk support structure consists of a series of bridges held up by reinforced concrete towers and steel cables.

Here, visitors can amble along more than 30 metres above the ground and get unique views of the lower alps and the Alps in summer and winter, since the structure is accessible year-round.

The idea of Tree Top Walk is catching on all over the world and they all share the desire to deepen our ties with our environment, since awareness is fundamental to be able to pursue true sustainability.
