Myrbærholmen fishing bridges by Manthey Kula AS In the run-up to the exhibition “Norway, Architecture, Infrastructure. Landscape. Photographs by Ken Schluchtmann” curated by Luca Molinari at SpazioFMG, the IrisFMG gallery and showroom in Milan, we're taking a look at the project for fishing bridges by Norwegian firm Manthey Kula AS.

The Myrbærholmen fishing bridges by Manthey Kula AS are part of the National Tourist Routes programme to enhance the Norwegian landscape and make it a better experience for visitors. These two bridges - 80 and 100 metres long - have been constructed alongside the road following the Atlantic coastline in the region of Kristiansund, slightly south of Trondheim, and are designed expressly for anglers and tourists.

The project by Manthey Kula AS offers a safe place for fishing enthusiasts to peacefully and safely try out their angling skills and enjoy the Atlantic views. A cut in the rock has been turned into a parking area and from here locals and tourists who want to do some fishing can take the prefabricated ramps and stairs to the two bridges with a bold geometry that underscores the curves of the road hugging the Atlantic coastline. The bridge railings were also designed to make fishing accessible to the disabled.

Architects Beate Hølmebakk and Per Tansen will both be present with German photographer Ken Schluchtmann and Jette Hopp from Snøhetta (link) at 10.15 am on 23 June 2016 for the conference at the POLIMI (more information below) and at the opening of the exhibition “Norway, Architecture, Infrastructure. Landscape. Photographs by Ken Schluchtmann”, concept by Ken Schluchtmann, curated by Luca Molinari and Alessandro Benetti in collaboration with Christiane Bürklein at SpazioFMG, IrisFMG gallery and showroom in Milan. A really unique opportunity to get to know Ken Schluchtmann in person along with the majestic landscapes of Norway that he has immortalised, and the design ideas of the people behind these infrastructures and constructions aimed at promoting tourism as something to underpin and support the local economy in Norway.
