There is a special atmosphere about this project: three residential blocks, each containing three apartments, built on water. Not only new living spaces but also a new landmark near Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The architects Carin ter Beek and Roel Lichtenberg from the Dutch firm BLAUW together with FARO architects, designed a residential complex in close contact with water by placing them on a dam in the vicinity of Rotterdam.

Three blocks with three apartments in each one, slightly staggered so that all the living room balconies face the water.
The complex, designed as an open-plan space, allows the owners to decide how to divide the internal spaces keeping in mind that there is a view of the whole stretch of water from the kitchen on the mezzanine floor.

The close relationship with water is underlined by the choice of construction materials. The walls clad with local reed not only evoke the surrounding vegetation but a traditional skill from this area where thatched houses are very common. Besides providing excellent natural thermal insulation wattle is also a renewable resource which protects the house from bad weather.

A residential complex designed for contemporary life in touch with nature.
