LagosPhoto Festival Designing Futures The LagosPhoto Foundation presents the sixth edition of the LagosPhoto Festival that is running in Lagos, Nigeria until 27 November. An opportunity for a close-up look at the culturally buzzing African photography scene, under the title “Designing Futures”.

Which of course meant we couldn't let “Designing Futures” get away! This sixth edition of the LagosPhoto Festival, the first and only international photography festival in Nigeria, is organised by the African Artists Foundation (AAF)  which promotes a number of visual arts events through its own gallery in Nigeria.

For a full month, LagosPhoto is showcasing 35 photographers from 18 countries who address themes connected to design in Africa, a continent that is home to some very significant masterpieces of the creative history of humankind. So LagosPhoto is actually a platform for development and education connected to contemporary photography, also used as a medium to drive interdisciplinary and international cooperation amongst artists, an opportunity to explore the very stimulating photography scene in Africa.

Social programmes and the recovery and use of public spaces are also very much part of this event, thanks to the programme of fringe events with workshops, debates, large installations around the mega-city of Lagos that is home to more than 20 million people.

The small selection of photos we're sharing here with our readers leaves no room for doubt - if you love the art of contemporary photography, a visit to the LagosPhoto Festival is a real must!
