Google, Tel Aviv. Camenzind Evolution.
At the end of December 2012, Google opened its new offices in Tel Aviv, Israel, seeking to achieve LEED Platinum. The offices were designed by Swiss architecture firm, Camenzind Evolution with input from Israeli design teams Setter Architects and Studio Yaron Tal.

Google’s new Israeli offices are located in the Electra Tower, Tel Aviv. Google has rented eight floors – 8 thousand square metres – in this prestigious tower but only one of these is actually occupied by offices for the search engine’s team of engineers, sales and marketing experts. The other seven floors are dedicated to a new Campus for entrepreneurs, and provide a base for start-up companies.

Each floor reflects a different aspect of the local identity and half the spaces are conceived for communication, in order to encourage teamwork and worker interaction.

The design of the work areas is based on the “work as a playground”, concept, focusing strongly on personal wellbeing and offering restaurants, gyms and relaxation zones inside the structure .

One of the fundamental aspects of this project is the attention to the urban context and although the spaces are confined to a tower, the common areas always connect with the outside world, offering great views of Tel Aviv.

Still, the concept of environmental friendliness is not just limited to the relationship with the context; this project seeks to become the first of its category in Israel to achieve LEED Platinum, certification, the highest “green” award for the building industry.
