The Festival International des Jardins in Chaumont-sur-Loire is a fantastic festival and a real must for gardening lovers and landscape architects. The theme of the 22nd edition of the international garden festival is the “Seven Deadly Sins”, explored through the festival’s display gardens.
Visitors can wend their way around the display gardens of the Festival International des Jardins set in the splendid backdrop of the Domaine castle in Chaumont-sur-Loire until 2 November 2014. A unique opportunity to get some ideas of what’s currently happening in landscape architecture, with this year’s display gardens designed to the theme of the “Jardins des péchés capitaux”. In other words, gardens of the seven deadly sins, which give visitors a colourful and scented setting for reflection on these eternal drivers of creativity.
The themed display gardens are not the only thing this garden festival offers; it also includes gardening education and training for children and youth. It aims to encourage schools to engage with the environment, not limiting this just to gardening ideas and practices but also in the form of artistic experimentation.
From July through to the end of August, the Domaine castle in Chaumont-sur-Loire is holding night tours of the avenues of the Festival International des Jardins, where clever lighting of the display gardens turns them into a world of magic. So why not visit the Loire valley this summer to take a really “green” journey through this floral dreamland?
