Exhibition Andreas Gursky nicht abstrakt An exhibition of renowned German photographer Andreas Gursky at the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Düsseldorf with new works showcased alongside selected earlier photographs. For the first time, Gursky's art is accompanied by a minimalist sound installation by Canadian producer and DJ Richie Hawtin.

You've got until 6 November 2016 to take in the exhibition “Andreas Gursky – nicht abstrakt” (Andreas Gursky – not abstract) at the Kunstsammlung NRW, K20 Grabbeplatz, Düsseldorf. A great opportunity for a close-up look at the new photos by this renowned German artist, expressly crafted for this project in his hometown.

So for the first time you can enjoy the tulip fields (untitled XVIII, 2015), a landscape alienated by solar panels (Les Mées, 2016) and consumer locations, the cathedrals of our times (Mediamarkt, 2016 and Amazon, 2016).
Andreas Gursky focuses a lot on the light, texture and colours of his photographs, introducing viewers to the world of artistic abstraction through the photography medium, and in this way also explaining his visual and stylistic language.

His desire to communicate with the viewer is also expressed in the exhibition's title, for the first time not just the artist's name.

Gursky's photography exhibition in the K20, the extension of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen museum that has been expanding its original 1986 exhibition space since 2010 also has the new addition of a minimalist sound installation by Canadian producer and DJ Richie Hawtin. For Andreas Gursky, the rhythmic pulses of this electronic music are acoustic references to the grids and repetitions, a way to make his figurative abstraction stand out.

A marriage of photography and music not to be missed!
