Elma Arts Complex Luxury Hotel, Israel Summer - a time for travelling and time for us to share some hotels from around the world with our readers. Elma Arts Complex Luxury Hotel in Zichron Ya'akov, Israel was created from an existing 1970s building and offers full art-immersion accommodation.

The great German writer and poet, Goethe said that art makes us immortal, so a holiday in a place where art isn't just decoration but is part of the concept of hospitality therefore promises to be truly unforgettable.

This conviction forms the basis for the concept of the Elma Arts Complex Luxury Hotel on Mount Carmel in Israel. A Design Hotel created from a highly prestigious old building - a sanatorium designed by renowned Israeli architect Yaakov Rechter, winner of the 1972 Israel Prize. An extremely eye-catching, architecturally valuable construction that needed to adapt to the needs of the new millennium, at the same time respecting the lines of the composition and adding something new and special to attract guests.

Lily Elstein, art merchant who has been committed to social work for ages (migrant integration) bought the complex in 2006 and did exactly that - she turned the original 80 rooms into 40 spacious hotel rooms with views over the Mediterranean and the green landscape; she added 22 new villas, repurposed the reading room and cinema as a state-of-the-art concert hall and turned the old pool used for rehabilitation into a spa with a brand new look.

Still, the world abounds in beautiful, luxury hotels, so Lily turned her passion for art into a distinguishing mark in the hotel concept. Because here guests don't just look at artworks - paintings, sculptures and art installations - they can also participate in an extensive cultural programme with fine artistic performances ranging from classical and modern music concerts to theatre and dance.

The modernist-style architecture of the great maestro, Rechter has become a contemporary container for the arts in its broadest meaning, giving guests a hotel stay where culture sweeps across everything as a regenerative element, “a place where you can experience, for a time, life as it was meant to be.”
