Common Fest Beirut, a cosmopolitan cultural experience

7 to 10 May 2015 is the time for Common Fest in Beirut, celebrating art and culture with a culinary dimension and aiming to create a link between Lebanon and the world art scene, focusing in particular on forging relations between Beirut and Berlin.



Four days of festival in the venue of La Magnanerie, Beirut, an old, 19^th century silk factory on 5000 square metres of land, close to downtown Beirut. 



A particularly fascinating example of industrial architecture which from 7 to 10 May 2015 will be hosting the first edition of Common Fest, an initiative by Matisse Events, a Lebanon-based events agency with a penchant for advocating arts and culture in Lebanon.





This year's celebration starts from the close ties that already exist between the cities of Beirut and Berlin, twin cities emphasised by the great participation of Berlin artists, including German architecture photographer, Ken Schluchtmann who will be exhibiting his award-winning photos of the Norwegian landscape and architecture.



The idea behind Common Fest is to turn it into a travelling show with works ranging from music to photography, as well as art installations and culinary experiences. The first stop of the tour after Beirut will be Berlin, followed by Dubai, to take the thriving art and cultural scene of the capital of Lebanon around the world: an opportunity to get a close look at emerging and established artists from the Middle East and from other countries such as Spain, USA, Denmark, France and Germany, to create a platform where the cosmopolitan spirit can be shared and enjoyed, just like we at Livegreenblog like it (and indeed, we'll be there with live tweets from Beirut)!
