Chaumont-sur-Loire's ninth art season opens Chaumont-sur-Loire is known for its park that hosts the Festival International des Jardins every year. It is also the site for the “Centre of Arts and Nature” that from 1 April to 30 November 2017 ill be welcoming visitors to the ninth art season that celebrates the ties between art, nature and heritage.

In the run-up to the start of the 26th International Garden Festival in Chaumont-sur-Loire called “Flower Power” that will open on 20 April, if you're into all things green and art then it's worth your while making a trip to Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire. On April 1  the “Centre of Arts and Nature” of the château on the Loire river opened the ninth art season to celebrate the unique ties between art, nature and architecture of this magical location that will run through to 30 November.
About a dozen artists have been invited to exhibit their artworks. So, as part of a major commission funded by the Centre-Loire Valley Region, visitors can admire a monumental installation in the Fenil Gallery by American artist Sheila Hicks.
On the other hand, Sam Szafran will be exhibiting his fabulous green branching tree structures for visitors to admire in the Château’s High Galleries and sculptor Stéphane Guiran will be showcasing an unusual quartz installation in the indoor riding arena of the stables.
The Bee Barn will be hosting the huts and columns of Sara Favriau while Marie Denis and Karine Bonneval will be exhibiting in the Chateau's private apartments and Donkey Stables. They will also be joined by El Anatsui from Ghana, Andrea Wolfensberger and Makhi Yenakis.
In line with the theme selected for the 2017 International Garden Festival, which exalts “flower power”, creative artists and new digital technology experts Miguel Chevalier and Davide Quayola will present us with fantastic worlds to explore - more closely tied in with the world of gardens.
So all in all, in the run-up to the opening of the Domain of Chaumont-sur-Loire gardens on 20 April, there are already lots of incentives to visit this unique place, where art, heritage and nature blend poetically and lightly.
