Art and creativity in Milan, a tour of the Fabbrica del Vapore

Expo Milano 2015 is not just Rho, it's the whole city that is being showcased, waiting to be discovered by global visitors, but also by the locals who are often in the dark about some of the hidden gems in their city. The Fabbrica del Vapore, one of the top locations of the Fuorisalone, presented the various workshops it is hosting.



Expo 2015 has opened up Milan to visitors from all over the world, but it has also raised the curtain on well-established facilities in the city for the local audience. One of these is the Fabbrica del Vapore, now one of the top locations of the Fuorisalone, with the event Green Utopia.





Of course, the Fabbrica del Vapore is much more than that, as we saw last week during the first “open day” of FDVLAB – Laboratori Fabbrica del Vapore, a not-for-profit association, which operates in the former industrial complex built in 1899 as the headquarters of train and tram manufacturers, Caminati, Toselli & C.





FDVLAB opened its doors to the press for the very first time, so it could directly and extensively showcase the different creative workshops and activities that have found their home in this urban facility. Of course, this opportunity to explore creative urban development, was too good to pass up for Livegreenblog and we happily explored the new languages, new know-how and new technologies it is offering.





From old forgotten games to dance, from architectural and design research to theatre and photography workshops, from 3D prototyping to intercultural exchanges, FDVLAB is a true creative universe that is just waiting to be discovered and used by the Milanese - not just during Expo 2015 but all the time!
