A new kindergarten in Thailand. Prachasongkroa School.
Thai architects, NDPA studio are responsible for the new kindergarten building in the school complex of Kanchanaburi, bringing together the real world and the dream world in a building that engages with nature.

Thai architect Nutthawut Piriyaprakob from NDPA studio designed the new building for the Prachasongkroa School in Kanchanaburi, 130 km from Bangkok.

The building stands on a narrow lot, squeezed between other buildings and trees, and the free-flowing volume makes the best use of the space. The concept is based on the dichotomy of the real world and the dream world, in other words the form follows the function and the typical free form that responds to the needs of small children.

The freeform lines make the rooms dynamic, offsetting the discomfort of the narrow space.

By playing with contrasts - freeform versus geometrical shapes, rough versus smooth surface, bright colours versus raw concrete – children are encouraged to explore the facility that also engages with the landscape. Because we all learn by observing the world around us, and children learn better in stimulating environments.
