3N1 by LLATAS, a green roof in Lima 3N1 - three in one - is the name of the project by Peruvian architecture studio, LLATAS for the clubhouse of the military sports club in Lima. A single building with bold geometry to accommodate three different functions under a single, iconic green roof.

Designing in a high-density population context, at the same time protecting the city's sparse vegetation is no easy task. LLATAS architecture studio has come up with a sustainable and elegant response.

The Peruvian military sports club was the client, and their brief was to combine a gym, café-restaurant and spa in a single building on their site - the architects responded with a 3-in-1 solution, as the project title suggests.

Indeed, the project combines the three functions under a single green roof. This keeps its carbon footprint to a minimum and also gives the city back the green area taken away by the building.
In a single topographic operation, LLATAS fits in the different end uses under the common denominator of a grass roof, creating a kind of pathway with different heights as part of the urban landscape, in addition to a scenic terrace overlooking the sports facilities that can also be used for events.

The sustainable design solutions don't just stop at the roof, though; in the composition and sequence of the interiors, the LLATAS architects favoured the use of natural light and natural ventilation, to further reduce the carbon footprint of the 3N1 multipurpose centre in Lima.
