The internet has changed the way we talk about architecture, and about books too! The recent book trailer by Mara Corradi and Roberto Ronchi focuses on the themes of the book Architecture on the web. A Critical Approach to Communication edited by Paolo Schianchi, permitting better and more immediate comprehension of the themes addressed in the volume than any press release or article could.
The words and images in the video offer immediate examples of the concepts expressed in the book and refer to a number of contributions to the book by world-renowned architects and architectural studios.
The book trailer focuses on the key theme of Architecture on the web. A Critical Approach to Communication: internet as a new form of communication that inevitably shifts the observer’s attention from the work of architecture itself to how it is depicted.
The possibility of discussing architecture through renderings permits discussion of a project even before it has been built, and the speed of the medium makes it possible to discuss a project while it is under construction; as Angelo Maggi notes: "We are the first generation that sees almost nothing for the first time. Everything that exists in design has already been seen on a screen".
