The critics have called the late Angelo Mangiarotti one of the last great masters of Italian design. Floornature interviewed him a few years ago.

Happiness comes from correctness” are the first words to appear on the website of Angelo Mangiarotti, the late designer, architect and sculptor whom the critics have called one of the last great masters of Italian design.

The Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo held an anthological exhibition of his work in June under the title "Philosophy of the Maestro". Held in collaboration with Fondazione Angelo Mangiarotti and Angelo Mangiarotti Associates, the exhibition presented a selection of the architect and designer?s work representing his entire artistic career.

Awarded the Compasso d'Oro for lifetime achievement by the Industrial Design Association (Adi) in 1994, Mangiarotti always combined his professional work as an architect and designer with an intense teaching career in universities in Italy and abroad. A book entitled "in nome dell'architettura" (?in the name of architecture") published in 1987 brought together the theoretical foundations of his projects and his research into "objective" design revealing the essential characteristics of every object and making it recognisable by the collectivity.
