From October 26 through 28 Maxxi and Accademia Nazionale di San Luca host a series of events focusing on a great master of contemporary architecture, Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza. The series also includes two exhibitions which opened recently at the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca and the exhibition "Álvaro Siza, Sacro" currently under preparation at Maxxi.
Accademia Nazionale di San Luca opened two exhibitions in its exhibition spaces in Palazzo Carpegna on October 26: ÁLVARO SIZA IN ITALIA 1976-2016 and LA MISURA DELL'OCCIDENTE Álvaro Siza _ Giovanni Chiaramonte.
“Álvaro Siza In Italia 1976-2016” is part of the “Grand Tour” project, which, like the exhibition, is curated by Roberto Cremascoli and Francesco Moschini. The exhibition includes drawings and photographs of the 23 projects Álvaro Siza completed in Italy, the point of departure for an exhibition covering the Portuguese architect’s career between 1976 and 2016 and his contribution to architectural debate in Italy.
The second exhibition: “La Misura dell'Occidente. Álvaro Siza_ Giovanni Chiaramonte”, curated by Roberto Cremascoli and Laura Geronazzo, is a dialogue between architect Álvaro Siza and photographer Giovanni Chiaromonte through travel drawings and photographs. The materials on exhibit document a series of trips which start out in Italy to continue all over Europe and onto other continents.
