AIA/ALA Library Building Award

The American Institute of Architecture has selected eight projects for the AIA/ALA Library Building Award.

AIA/ALA Library Building Award Every two years the AIA (American Institute of Architecture) and the ALA (American Library Association) choose the most significant examples of
library projects.
In 2009 they selected eight buildings:
  • Arabian Library, Scottsdale Public Library, Scottsdale, Arizona by richard+bauer architecture, LLC
  • C.V. Starr East Asian Library, University of California Berkeley by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects
  • Chongqing Library, Chongqing, China by Perkins Eastman
  • Biblioteca Central Estatal Wigberto Jimenez Moreno, Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico by Pei Partnership Architects LLP
  • NYPL Francis Martin Library, Bronx, New York by 1100 Architect, P.C.
  • Gentry Public Library, Gentry, Arkansas by Marlon Blackwell Architect
  • Minneapolis Central Library, Minneapolis by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects
  • Palo Verde Library / Maryvale Community Center, Phoenix by Gould Evans Associates + Wendell Burnette Architects
The award winners will present their projects at the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago on July 13.
