An exhibition presenting 20 examples of single-family dwellings by prominent Brazilian architects compares icons of classic modernism with the work of contemporary architects.

10+10. MODERNIST AND CONTEMPORARY BRAZILIAN HOUSES exhibition

The Architekturzentrum in Vienna presents an exhibition comparing 10 single-family homes in Brazil by iconic architects of classic Brazilian modernism such as Lina Bo Bardi, Oscar Niemeyer and Paulo Mendes da Rocha with another 10 homes designed by contemporary Brazilian architects including Angelo Bucci, Carla Juaçaba, Procter-Rihl and Isay Weinfeld.

The images produced exclusively for the exhibition by Leonardo Finotti, one of Brazil’s most prominent architecture photographers, compare these different forms of architecture. Finotti’s photographs allow viewers to see how the constructions dialogue with their specific features: Niemeyer’s sculptural forms or Da Rocha’s geometric rigidity, for instance, and to grasp the differences in the means and solutions used in response to today’s technical, ecological, social and economic challenges.
