THIS IS DESIGN exhibition

The Design Museum's famous collection includes a multitude of design objects, from the earliest mass-produced objects to contemporary production. It took more than five years to catalogue and index all the material now on display to the public.

The works on exhibit demonstrate the importance of the role played by design in our lives and how it can serve as an essential key to interpretation of the contemporary world and culture.

The design process is exemplified by presentation of prototypes, drawings, samples, models, first editions and, finally, finished industrial objects.
In celebrating recent acquisitions, the exhibition also offers an opportunity to discuss the future development of the collection, in view of the opening of the new premises of the Design Museum (in the former Commonwealth Institute), where there will be a gallery permanently exhibiting the collection.
