Facciate Ventilate - Projects
Il Buchholz sports centre
Buchholz Sports Centre was designed by Stefan Camezind and Michael Gräfensteiner, the pair of Swiss architects who are gaining increasing recognition on the international scene with their elegant, functional and sustainable projects including the Siemens Communication Centre and the Drusberg Housing Complex in Zurich.
IPB Pardubice
IPB, the Czech Republic's third largest insurance firm, has commissioned a building symbolising the firm's importance for the national economy for its headquarters in Pardubice. Designer Libor Martìnek, an architect and engineer, approached the project with a special awareness of its context and made use of innovative technologies permitting particular formal solutions and measures for comfort.
Nozal's head office
The new office building of KDI (Klsckner Distribution Industrielle) is located, not far from Paris, in a town in the French department of Seine Saint-Denis, Aubervilliers, known for its long-standing industrial tradition. Its origins are in fact linked to the presence of the canal from which the region takes its name, along which heavy goods were transported on special barges to the cities of Northern France.
Cabel Building
In architecture, the façade of a building offers an extraordinary means of communication, capable of impressing itself, more than any other astonishing detail, on the memory of the passers-by, and of expressing (and sometimes negating) the spirit of design. This is also true to rebuilding and restoration projects in which the various construction possibilities range from almost total demolition with the retention of just the façade and the building's image (this is frequently the case in cases of functional rebuilding in historical city centres) to the construction of completely new façade for characterless old buildings, a sort of urban face-lift necessary to express the updated "character" of a building that changes its identity.
Socialna Poistovna
The contemporary, colourful Poprad offices of the Slovakian social security institute Socialna Poistovna offer an original interpretation of the city's architectural style.
Completed in May 2003, the project bears the signature of Eng. arch. Ján Veselovský of Proarch studio in Poprad, whose past projects include the National Bank and the beautiful Hotel Patria in the same area.
