MVRDV designs the NIO House showroom, taking inspiration from the city of Chongqing

A special staircase, which takes inspiration from the city of Chongqing: this is the distinctive element that the MVRDV architecture studio designed for NIO House Chongqing, the new showroom created for the Chinese electric car manufacturer NIO. For this promising start-up, considered a major player in China's electric car boom, the architects designed a staircase inspired by the Chongqing skyline, with the buildings appearing to be arranged in layers on the city’s steep hills.

WALL Architectural Bureau for Rasario: not a showroom, but rather a “multifunctional urban space”

WALL Architectural Bureau has created a new showroom in Smolenskaya Square, Moscow for Rasario, a luxury fashion house based in Russia. The architects’ intention was to create a multifunctional urban space, closer to a contemporary museum than a traditional fashion boutique. They achieved this goal thanks to their use of statuesque shapes, with every last detail carefully studied, and an extremely restricted colour palette of grey and black.

Fuorisalone Digital, an all-digital event for Milano Design Week

As a result of the current pandemic, numerous events and initiatives in our cities and regions have been cancelled or reorganised to be held in digital form. Fuorisalone Digital, the digital event created for Milano Design Week, not only overcomes all the logistical issues connected with travel and gatherings at the current time, replacing the cancelled 2020 edition, but proposes a new way of getting the message of Fuorisalone across in the future. The intention is for the new platform and four new formats launched for the 2020 edition to continue alongside the traditional event held with the involvement of the entire city of Milan. A number of digital events offer previews of what will be happening in a few months’ time, such as the opening of the Iris Ceramica Group’s new showroom in Milan.

Yin and Yang for a showroom designed by JG Phoenix

The interior designers of the Chinese studio Jingu Phoenix Space Planning Organization are the creatives behind the Danilo Paint showroom for paints and colours in Shantou. The interiors are informed by the ancient Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang, based on the idea that opposing forces can actually be complementary or interconnected.

IttenBrechbühl Architects designs Scott Sports headquarters in Givisiez, Switzerland

In Givisiez, Switzerland, the Bern-based IttenBrechbühl Architects firm designed the new futuristic headquarters for Scott Sports, manufacturer of sports equipment for cycling, skiing, motorcycling and running. A dynamic building with a high-tech modular façade that contains an imposing full-height central atrium. A structure that interprets and immediately communicates Scott Sports’ brand values and corporate mission.

UNStudio recently planned the renovation of a historic building in Eindhoven designed by Jan van der Laan and built in 1952. The architects’ refurbishment of the building’s façade reconnects the construction with its urban surroundings.

The first 12 events in The Architects Series, the event format created by The Plan magazine for SpazioFMGperl'Architettura, the gallery and showroom of Iris Ceramica and FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti, top brands in the Iris Ceramica Group, are now available online. Each episode is a double event featuring a documentary film offering a behind-the-scenes look at the architectural practice and interviews conducted at SpazioFMG per l'Architettura during meetings with the architects.
