Exhibition of projects submitted for the DAM Preis 2020 won by David Chipperfield Architects’ James Simon Galerie

Starting on 31 January 2020, Frankfurt’s DAM Deutsches Architekturmuseum hosts an exhibition about the projects entered for the DAM Preis 2020, a competition for the best architecture in Germany held since 2007. The winning project in 2020 is the James Simon Galerie in Berlin, designed by David Chipperfield Architects.

The American Institute of Architects has announced the eight projects that have won the 2020 Architecture Awards. Eight contemporary architecture projects, chosen independently of the size, style and type of building to represent the best architects can create for improving life for everyone.

Arquitecturia Camps Felip – Balaguer Courthouse, Spain

The new Balaguer Courthouse building designed by architects Josep Camps & Olga Felip of the firm Arquitecturia is located in one of the old quarters of the city, one of the most important historic centres of Arab origin in Catalonia. The project recently received the Silver Medal of the Fassa Bortolo International Prize for Sustainable Architecture.

Winners of the Barbara Cappochin International Prize for Architecture

The Barbara Cappochin International Prize for Architecture goes to Fasch & Fuchs Architekten design studio for the Aspern Federal School. "Cava Arcari", the multi-purpose space at Colli Berici (the hills around Vicenza) designed by David Chipperfield Architects wins the Regional Award. The award ceremony will take place on October 26 at the Palazzo della Ragione in Padova.

383 buildings proposed for EUmiesaward 2019

A beautiful mosaic of photographs reflecting the construction of Europe through its best contemporary buildings is the image opening Floornature 2019. The European Commission and Fundació Mies van der Rohe recently published a list of 383 projects proposed for the European Union 2019 Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe.

Christian de Portzamparc wins the Praemium Imperiale for Architecture

The awards ceremony for the thirtieth edition of the prize considered the Nobel Prize of the arts, the Praemium Imperiale awarded by the Japan Art Association, was held recently. The winner in the architecture category is French architect Christian de Portzamparc, while the award for music went to famous Italian orchestra conductor Riccardo Muti.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has announced that architect Richard Rogers will be presented with its 2019 Gold Medal, acknowledging the British architect’s long career and his influence on the theory and practice of the discipline.

RIBA International Prize 2018 goes to Aleph Zero and Rosenbaum’s Children Village

RIBA has named Aleph Zero and Rosenbaum’s Children Village the world’s best new building. The project was recently awarded the 2018 RIBA International Prize, after receiving the 2018 RIBA Award for International Excellence and being named RIBA International Emerging Architect of 2018 in the spring.
