World Habitat Awards 2021, the winning projects

The World Habitat Awards, originally founded in 1985 and organised by World Habitat in collaboration with UN-Habitat, are the most prestigious award in the housing sector. The 2021 Gold Award winners are the Introducing Community Land Trusts in Continental Europe project (Belgium) and the Housing Monitor project (Lebanon).

Balkrishna Doshi wins the 2022 Royal Gold Medal

Indian architect Balkrishna Doshi, winner of the 2018 Pritzker Prize, will receive the 2022 Royal Gold Medal, one of the most important international architecture awards, presented annually by the Royal Institute of British Architects, RIBA. The award is assigned to studios or professionals who have had a significant impact on the progress of architecture, either directly or indirectly.

2021 Festa dell’Architetto and winners of the Italian awards

Venice hosted the Festa dell’Architetto 2021 on November 5. The Conference of the Orders of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservationists in the Sala delle Colonne in Ca’ Giustinian, home of La Biennale di Venezia, concluded with a keynote address by architect Jette Cathrin Hopp of Snøhetta, president of the annual prize jury, and the presentation of the “Architetto/a Italiano/a 2021” and “Giovane Talento dell’Architettura italiana 2021” awards.

The first Cornelia Hahn Oberlander International Landscape Architecture Prize

The American Cultural Landscape Foundation, or TCLF, has announced the first winner of the new biennial Oberlander Prize, named after the late landscape architect Cornelia Hahn Oberlander and bestowed on a recipient who is "exceptionally talented, creative, courageous, and visionary”. The first winner is Julie Bargmann.

Glenn Murcutt wins Praemium Imperiale for architecture

The winners of the 32nd edition of the prestigious Praemium Imperiale, often described as the arts equivalent of the Nobel Prize and given out by the Japan Art Association, have been announced. Australian architect Glenn Murcutt has been named the Praemium Imperiale architecture laureate, photographer Sebastião Salgado is the winner in the painting category, artist James Turrell in the sculpture category and cellist Yo-Yo Ma in the music category. Moreover, the recipient of “The Grant for Young Artists”, a 5 million yen scholarship reserved for an institution that promotes artistic activities among young people, is The Advanced Training School of the Central Institute for Restoration in Italy.

RIBA Stephen Lawrence Prize 2021 Finalists

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the list of six finalist projects that have been shortlisted for the Stephen Lawrence Prize 2021. The award is dedicated to the memory of a young architecture student who died tragically in 1993 and is open to projects with a budget of less than £1 million. The winner is awarded a scholarship provided by the Marco Goldschmied Foundation.

The winners of the 24th edition of the IIDA/HD Expo Product Design Awards

The IIDA association, in collaboration with the Hospitality Design magazine, recently announced the winners of the 24th edition of the IIDA/HD Expo Product Design Awards. The jury of experts selected four winning products and judged them to be adequate to the needs of the hospitality sector, sustainable and, above all, human-centred. Among the winners, in the Flooring/Hard Surfaces category, we find the Liquid Cosmo Grey collection by Iris Ceramica Diesel Living.
