Tadao Ando designs new Duvetica showroom and flagship store in Milan

To mark the tenth birthday of the Duvetica brand, a new showroom will open at Via Senato 41/A in Milan on June 23 along with an expansion on the flagship store at Via Santo Spirito 22 designed by Japanese architectTadao Ando.

In the showroom in Via Senato, Tadao Ando worked on an existing structure, redefining its interior with a few simple elements, linear geometric shapes made of bare concrete.
The key element in the composition is an imposing curved, inclined wall cutting through the space of the two floors vertically, visible through the big window on the road. The architect integrated elements of the original building with the new design wherever possible, as in the case of the existing wooden coffered ceilings and frames.
The dominant colours in the floors, walls and furnishings are grey and white: use of these colours and particular lighting underline the hues of the merchandise on display.
