Simone Sfriso tamassociati curator of the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale
Paolo Schianchi, Alejandro Aravena,
A prestigious task for the Italian architecture studio tamassociati, as one of its founders, the architect Simone Sfriso will be the curator of the Italian Pavilion at the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale directed by architect Alejandro Aravena.
The Minister for the Arts, Culture and Tourism, Dario Franceschini, made the announcement on 8th September, stating that the choice had been made following a selection procedure involving "ten figures of a high level of competence and professionalism on the national architecture scene".
The curatorial proposal presented by Simone Sfriso is entitled “TAKING CARE – designing for the common good”, and will offer tangible proof of how architecture can help spread and render effective principles of culture, sociality, participation, health, integration and legality in any place and on any scale. It is a proposal in line with the theme Reporting from the Front of the 15th Venice Architecture Exhibition, directed by architect Alejandro Aravena and finds concrete examples in the architecture created by studio tamassociati, like the hospitals designed for Emergency in Sudan, which have won numerous international awards and are the protagonists of an event tamassociati x emergency organised by the Floornature team (Paolo Schianchi, Mara Corradi and Agnese Bifulco) and by the staff of Fiandre at the FAB Architectural Bureau in Milan.
