Private home in Cologno al Serio
  Project type
Characterised by offset volumes and effective use of full and empty volumes,
this project proposes a new formal and material interpretation of the single-family dwelling set in the existing residential context.
The project by Proposte di Architettura (Surveyor Elisa Valeri,
Architect Laura Valeri, Architect Giuseppe Pelucchi) skilfully combines
"formal-material simplicity" with "technological innovation-energy conservation"
and offers a significant example of use of ceramic materials on both exteriors and interiors.
Part of the exterior is covered with a ventilated façade
with flamed 120x60 cm Pietra Basaltina tiles from GranitiFiandre's New Stone collection, laid in a horizontal pattern with invisible hooks. The walls without a ventilated façade have a double thermal coating.
The interaction of different surface finishes resulted in a definite improvement in thermal and acoustic insulation, saving significant amounts of energy.
Outdoor walkways are paved with structured New Stone Pietra di Luserna 60x30 cm tiles, while indoor flooring features materials from the New Ground, New Marmi and New Stone collections, also by GranitiFiandre.
The materials were chosen for their resistance to atmospheric agents, their visual impact similar to natural quarried stone, and the "material differentiation" of the materials on the façade, according to Architect Laura Valeri.Granitech provided its "turnkey" service on the construction site.
Precisely because of the numerous benefits and important technological innovations they offer,
ventilated walls are becoming more and more popular in contemporary architecture, giving architects freedom to interpret façades in innovative modern ways which respond to the most difficult demands in terms of design and performance.
The Granitech ventilated façade system used with GranitiFiandre porcelain stoneware materials guarantees aesthetic value and performance well above those of conventional masonry.
As the architects note, the home offers a new expressive and linguistic interpretation of traditional materials such as wood, porcelain stoneware, copper, glass and plaster and offers technical solutions calibrated in response to the client's actual needs, always taking into account the price to quality ratio of the result.
Significant examples are the solutions for saving energy in the home, involving both cladding and technical installations, with use of an outer thermal coat, a ventilated façade, a ventilated roof, low emission glass, collection of rainwater, thermal solar panels with a condensation boiler and heating through floor panels, and home automation.
The results are excellent in terms of both aesthetics and performance, for floors and walls both inside and out, and for the "ventilated façade" system permitting material articulation of the building's façades.
The project aims to offer a new concept of "contemporary living".
