Mario Ferrara, looking at architectonic details

Landscape 1.

Mario Ferrara, looking at architectonic details Landscape 1.0. Mario Ferrara, architect and architectural photographer, while passing through the urban fabric that lies before his eyes, defines and transforms its appearance into an ethical design to rethink our shared spaces.

Mario Ferrara looks attentively at the urban environment, intercepting those fleeting architectural details that describe its essence. In fact, all his shots have blurred edges and boundaries which, ideally, are continued in the images that every designer nurtures inside himself. Therefore, the representation of our urban fabric becomes his focal point, never static. It is as though that certain instant of urban reality is about to move in another direction, where seeing is  blended with observing our surroundings. His either austere or subtly ephemeral themes bring to mind images of a school of architectural photography that found its leading exponents in Italy. However, Mario Ferrara goes one step further; the idea of urban transit is included in his poetic imagery of architecture. In a direct and wonderful way, his research on Landscape 1.0 effectively communicates the perspective of a changing urban environment and portrays our distracted lingering in front of the buildings we are surrounded by.
The light in this art is real, dazzling, eternally present and able to transform every feature into a world to explore. This, indeed, is photography. Of course, the point of departure derives from his studying to be an architect, maestro and researcher. In the case of Mario Ferrara, the pleasure of taking pictures transforms all his work into projects to be handed down to future generations, transforming artistic qualities into design ethics. In this artist's photography everything is concluded, even our visual and design awareness, because nothing is left incomplete or unsaid, nor does he skimp on showing all the harshness of the city life surrounding us that we see while passing through our suburbs. So, in a certain sense, he is accompanying us so we can observe everything that still has to be corrected in order to progress to a type of architecture able to modify the urban fabric accommodating our daily lives.
