Workshop 1 light surfaces FAB Architectural Bureau Berlin
In the famous Bergmannkiez area of Berlin, a historic building, the ex- Sarotti am Mehringdamm chocolate factory, is the home of the FAB Architectural Bureau Berlin. On the first floor of the building, in the second inner courtyard, there is an exhibition area of around 1,100 m² dedicated to Porcelaingres and FIANDRE porcelain tiles and slabs for surfaces, while the south side is the home of the FAB Architectural Bureau Berlin.
The curators of theFAB Architectural Bureau Berlin architect Volker Halbach, blauraum, and Sally Below, sbca studio, have begun a year-long process, organised in three workshops, to transform the FAB exhibition area, which is currently empty, into a multifunctional space. The theme of all the workshops is “surfaces” organised into three categories: "light, interactive and flexible". The process began in June 2015 with the presentation of the concept in architecture space n. 1 and will end in June 2016. The 7th – 9th October 2015 will see the first workshop for architecture space n.2 with a formula that will also be repeated for the following two workshops and spaces, which involves getting to know the spaces (day 1), drawing up the project (day 2) and, finally, presenting the project to the public on the last day with a conference and a closing party.
The first workshop on 7th- 8th October will see the participation of team n. 1, with Prof. Ruth Berktold, yes architecture, Munich, Nils Buschmann, RobertNeun Architekten, Berlin, Laura Ludloff, Ludloff + Ludloff Architekten, Berlin and Claudia Meixner, Meixner Schlüter Wendt Architekten, Frankfurt am Main, with input by Detlef Weitz, chezweitz Szenografie, Berlin.
