Wim Wenders America exhibition at Villa Panza, Varese

"Wim Wenders America", an exhibition curated by Anna Bernardini, includes 34 photos taken in the United States by the well-known German director between the late seventies and 2003.
Images of places, landscapes, buildings and cityscapes reflect the director’s personal vision and pay homage to his friend Dennis Hopper and to Edward Hopper, his artistic inspiration.
Wim Wenders describes his approach to landscape, using the camera to capture and record the essence of a place:

"Landscapes shape our life and our personality, they set our human condition and, if you are attentive, you can sharpen your sensitivity towards them, you discover that they have stories to tell and that they are much more than simple places."

The exhibition concludes in the stables of Villa Panza with "New York, November 8, 2001", a work dedicated to Ground Zero that leads the visitor to reflect on violence and public tragedy.
