The best skyscrapers in the world 2015

The “Best Tall Building Worldwide” selected amongst the winners of 4 macro-geographical areas into which the world is divided will be announced during the CTBUH 14th Annual Symposium on November 12. The CTBUH Awards are independent prizes assigned by a jury of experts to new projects for skyscrapers, in order to offer a wide vision of these great structures, their technical aspects and the performance of these buildings, as well as their effects on people and the cities in which they are built. The winners of each macro-geographical region are:

One World Trade Center, New York, USA (America) designed by David Childs (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill), whose shape recalls various classic skyscrapers in New York, built on the site of the World Trade Center, a place with a great symbolic value and which offers itself as a new icon for the city.

CapitaGreen, Singapore (Asia & Australia) designed by architect Toyo Ito,where 55% of the façade is covered by vegetation, which for the jury creates a new path to this kind of solution.

Bosco Verticale, Milan, Italy (Europe) designed by architect Stefano Boeri, which the jury judged unprecedented for the height and scale of its vegetation, made up of over 90 species including trees as well as small plants.

Burj Mohammed Bin Rashid Tower, Abu Dhabi, UAE (Middle East & Africa) designed by Foster+Partners, which blends its design and functions with the cultural and geographic context in which it is set: the wavy covering creates the effect of a mirage and at the base of the skyscraper is a traditional souk.
