During CERSAIE, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings, the historic centre of the city of Bologna hosts Bologna Design Week, an international event for the promotion of design culture. The news that will be announced at the event includes the unveiling of the Iris Ceramica Group SpA’s new Sapienstone brand.
On the basis of a formula which has proven successful in other cities, an important, consolidated trade fair is accompanied by a series of cultural initiatives in the city centre. During the 34th CERSAIE in Bologna September 26 through October 1 the city will host the second Bologna Design Week: an integrated communication programme embracing the worlds of design, creativity, education and industry, bringing the city’s historic buildings, art galleries and showrooms to life with exhibitions organised by theme. Proposals include: “Miniatures Exhibition”, an exhibition produced by Vitra telling the story of industrial production from the start of the 19th century to the present day through miniature versions of a hundred classic chairs. “Amare Gio Ponti” is the first documentary film about the unrivalled master of Italian design, directed by Francesca Molteni and produced in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives.
Events for getting to know more about the past as well as the future, through contaminations and experiments such as those presented by key players in “Fashion & Design”, curated by Lorena Zúñiga Aguilera and BDW at the former Atelier Corradi, and above all through innovations in ceramics, such as the new Sapienstone brand presented by Iris Ceramica Group SpA.
Dress Your Kitchen, an installation created by Iris Ceramica Group SpA in the former Ospedale dei Bastardini building, uses video projections and dramatic light effects to present exclusive TPB tech® kitchen countertops made from top quality Sapienstone porcelain. The new “sapiens” surfaces are worktops that also become cookers, thanks to induction heaters and touch controls incorporated directly in the countertop, without crystal plates.
