Pezo von Ellrichshausen wins the MCHAP.emerge prize

Chilean architectural studio Pezo von Ellrichshausen's Poli House project has been awarded the first MCHAP.emerge prize. Floornature met with Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen in Venice during the second edition of the “Greenhouse Talks”.

Wiel Arets, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology, and Dirk Denison, director of MCHAP.emerge (Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize for Emerging Architecture), have announced that the winner of the inaugural MCHAP.emerge award is the Poli House project by architects Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen, founders of Pezo von Ellrichshausen architectural studio.

Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen's project was selected by a panel of judges chaired by Kenneth Frampton in the first phase, which chose 4 finalists from the 70 candidates for the award. In addition to the winning project, the finalists included:
Kiltro House in Talca, Pencahue, Chile by Supersudaka (Juan Pablo Corvalán & Gabriel Vergara);
Maximilian’s Schell in Los Angeles, California by architects Benjamin Ball and Gaston Nogues;
OMS Stage in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada by 5468796 Architecture.
