Palazzina Reale new centre for architecture in Florence

Music, round tables and architecture itineraries: two days of events to celebrate the inauguration of Palazzina Reale, the new headquarters of the Order of Architects of the Province of Florence and the Architects’ Foundation of Florence and potentially the new centre of the world of architecture in Florence.

Palazzina Reale is part of the complex of Santa Maria Novella railway station in Florence, the last part of the major project implemented by Gruppo Toscano under the guidance of Giovanni Michelucci. Constructed in 1934 and 1935, the building was intended for receiving the Italian royal family (hence the name Palazzina Reale) when they visited Florence.

After being abandoned for a long time, under an agreement between the Order of Architects of Florence, the Architects’ Foundation of Florence and the company Grandi Stazioni, the space has now been reclaimed as a new cultural centre for citizens and a new centre for the promotion of architecture in the city.
