MART, Lost in landscape exhibition
The contemporary art exhibition that opened recently at MART represents a new vision of landscape through works (photographs, installations, paintings, videos...) by more than 60 artists from all over the world, with a special focus on emerging nations in Asia and South America and on natural, urban and geopolitical change.
Exhibition curator Gerardo Mosquera specifies that the term “landscape” refers to “both the perception of a given place and its representation”. This definition makes the object inseparable from the subject, the environment from the people inhabiting it.
The exhibition route is a philosophical itinerary which gets viewers emotionally involved and offers three keys to interpretation, for the subjectivity of perception plays a key role in today’s concept of landscape, and the works demonstrate how the issues of relations, living together, power and approval are inherent in the very concept of landscape.
