LIVING ARCHITECTURES MARATHON

Living Architectures Marathon is an itinerant event in various cities worldwide and from 27th June to 20th September there will be a series of events in Italy.

It involves the screening of films by Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine which describe the life of architecture by five famous studios and architects: Rem Koolhaas, Richard Meier, Frank Gehry, Renzo Piano and Herzog & De Meuron in a fun, irreverent and ironic manner.

Taking as their starting point the famous phrase by Le Corbusier “Vous savez, c’est toujours la vie qui a raison, l’architecte qui a tort…” Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine offer a new way of recounting contemporary architecture. It is a point of view based on the functions and the use for which the work has been designed. It is a tale of life and work in those spaces, not of an architectural project with the usual theoretical and technical implications. For example, a private home in Bordeaux, designed byRem Koolhaas, is seen from the point of view of the maid; in Rome the Dives in Misericordia church by Richard Meier is presented by the faithful and by the parish priest and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao by Frank Gehry is presented through the sweat and toil of the acrobatic cleaners suspended 30 m up who have a head-spinning vision of the museum!
