The first hotel made entirely out of glass in Sweden – and probably in the world – is located in a small town in the region of Sm?land where glass has been produced and blown for centuries in Sweden’s oldest glass factory.
The Kosta Boda Art hotel covers 10,000 square metres; it has 104 rooms and suites decorated with glass artworks by Kosta Boda artists, and a wellness centre and conference rooms decorated by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien, Kjell Engman and ?sa Jungnelius.
The walls, floor and counter of the bar are made entirely out of glass and in the swimming pool guests literally swim over artworks made of glass on the bottom of the pool.
Kosta Boda thus goes beyond its historic industrial vocation to embrace "experiential tourism", with a new hotel representing the essence of the concept, also suitable for use as an exhibition space.
