Julien De Smedt Architects wins a competition in Istanbul
Urban development projects for renewal of the historic centre of Istanbul submitted in the competition on invitation for construction of the Premier Campus Office in Kagithane included entries by UNStudio and Massimiliano Fuksas, but the winner is Julien De Smedt Architects (JDS Architects).

Inspired by the idea of creating a building that would interact with its surroundings, governed by a new approach to the natural and urban context, JDS Architects designed a construction which is open to the district around it and to passers-by.

Plazas, gardens and patios were designed by hollowing out the volume of the construction.
The result is a building with gentle slopes like the hilly landscape of the city of Istanbul. In the interiors, the architects provided flexible layouts which may be customised to suit the size and requirements of the companies occupying the spaces.
