Jeff Koons, retrospective at Whitney Museum of American Art

Jeff Koons, a world-famous artist whose works fetch millions at auction, will be the focus of a retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. This is the first time an exhibition has offered such a wide-ranging overview of Koons' vast production since 1978: almost 150 objects will be on display in chronological order, offering the most complete overview of one of the most prominent and controversial figures on the post-war art scene so far. Jeff Koons took advantage of the effects of massification to obtain great public consensus, and like Andy Warhol, he often started out with everyday objects.

The exhibition “Jeff Koons. A Retrospective” is not only the first major exhibition by the artist in New York, where he lives, but the last exhibition to be held in the building designed by Marcel Breuer before the Whitney Museum of American Art reopens in a new location designed by architect Renzo Piano in the Meatpacking District in 2015.
Good news for contemporary art lovers in Europe: the Jeff Koons retrospective will come to the Centre Pompidou in Paris in November 2014 and go on to the Bilbao Guggenheim in the summer of 2015.
