Interview with Davide Vercelli CER-SAIL Italian Style Concept

Cer-Sail - Italian Style Concept is a group show by architects Angelo Dall’Aglio and Davide Vercelli held for Cersaie 2016, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings.

In a brief interview with Floornature, Davide Vercelli discussed the reasons for the architects’ choice of theme, the port.
These include the fact that we live in a country that is a natural hub in the Mediterranean, an immense wharf with 8000 km of coastline, and in political terms the approval of the National Strategic Plan for Ports and Logistics (PSNPL), which aims to make Italy’s ports more competitive.
The virtual port centres around a square or forum with a lighthouse, the catalyst in the trade fair pavilion, and around other spaces for aggregation and exhibition. What the two architects propose is not just a port for transit, but a place of connections, a “port of the future” which he defines as a "forum for cultural exchange and a landing-place for urban links".
The group show, covering more than 1500 square metres, includes products of various kinds: furniture, textiles, sporting goods and food, presented in unusual partnerships promoting virtuous links among different companies.
