Housing developments - best of the week

The Expo Village in Cascina Merlata, Milan, is a complex of 7 residential highrises designed by MCA Mario Cucinella Architects, Teknoarch, B22 and Pura to offer accommodations and public spaces for the national delegations attending Expo 2015. After the world’s fair is over, the residences will be converted into social housing.
Rotterdam’s Markthal by MVRDV is the first example of a new type of building in which 228 apartments, arranged in an arc shape, coexist with commercial buildings, a covered market and other services on the ground floor and first floor.
Architectural practices Hamonic + Masson & Associés and Comte Vollenweider designed the Home complex in Paris – the first housing development to reach a height of 50 metres built since the seventies, thanks to a recent order of the Paris Council.
K.I.S.S. is a housing development in Zurich designed by Swiss architectural practice Camenzind Evolution with a bold visual impact.
Back in Italy, we conclude our survey with Bosco Verticale by Boeri Studio, in which each residential unit has a balcony or terrace with a garden.
