CERSAIE International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings

The new logo of the 34th CERSAIE, overlapping colourful ceramic elements, is the image chosen to represent the fair as a place for meeting and interacting on a number of levels. Floornature editors will be reporting live from the fair and conducting interviews right in the exhibition halls, and of course attending some of the most glamorous evening events!
But here we would like to inform you of some of the events focusing on architecture and design that have attracted our attention so far, either because of the presence of key players on the international architecture scene or for the pleasure of catching up with studios that Floornature has covered in the past and continues to follow with interest. The key event on the cultural schedule for September 27 is a lectio magistralis by architect Norman Foster: "10 on 10: ten fosters and ten others". The British architect and winner of the 1999 Pritzker Prize will talk about ten of his projects and ten projects by other architects that have had a great impact on him.
There are a couple of interesting events scheduled for both September 28 and 29. The events on the 28th will feature Portuguese architects Manuel and Francisco Aires Mateus of Aires Mateus studio and architect Solano Benitez of Gabinete de arquitectura, winner of a Golden Lion at the Architecture Biennale in Venice for best participant in the 15th Architecture Show: REPORTING FROM THE FRONT curated by Alejandro Aravena. On the 29th, Shelley McNamara of Grafton Architects will hold an interesting conference on the architecture of places of education as an element contributing to students’ education, while “forum:italia.architetti4.0” will bring together a number of Italian studios, diverserighestudio, labics and tamassociati, to discuss what it means to be an architect in Italy. Finally, on September 30, after Enzo Mari and Alessandro Mendini at previous editions of the fair, designer, architect and artist Ugo La Pietra will answer young students’ questions in a “lesson in reverse”.
