In the run-up to Expo 2015, Maria Vittoria Capitanucci takes readers on a tour of the new projects and interventions that are changing the face of Milan.

Book Milano, le nuove architetture
“Milano, le nuove architetture” (Milan, the new architecture) is the third book writer Maria Vittoria Capitanucci has dedicated to the city and the transformations that are changing its face.
Architectural projects and new constructions have been underway within the city?s boundaries for several years now, producing buildings such as the Region of Lombardy building by Studio Pei, Cobb, Feed & Partners, the new Feltrinelli headquarters in Porta Volta by Herzog & de Meuron, or interventions by David Chipperfield, Zaha Hadid and OMA/Rem Koolhaas, to mention only a few of the most important international architectural studios involved.

Milan seems to be a laboratory of metropolitan design where Italian and international architects are busy designing and building homes, workshops, museums and offices.
All these constructions will inevitably change the look of the city and raise questions as to its future, especially on the occasion of Expo 2015, heralded as the prelude to an important new age for architecture and architects in Milan.
