BIG wins competition for Paris research centre
Paris Parc will be the Sorbonne?s new research centre in Paris.
The project presented by BIG + OFF was chosen over proposals submitted by MVRDV, Lipsky Rollet, Mario Cucinella and Peripherique.

The proposed project takes into account the context in which the centre will be built, characterised by the presence of university buildings dating from different periods in history, visually linked with Notre Dame cathedral and close to the Arab World Institute designed by Jean Nouvel and Jussieu Camp?s park.

The founder of BIG architectural studio, Bjarke Ingels, explained how the volumes of the building are the result of urban experimentation generated and optimised by the intervention of a number of internal and external forces acting on it, such as the need for natural light and accessibility or its relationship with the city around it.
