BIG unveils plans for the World Trade Center

The new Manhattan skyline is about to be completed with the recently unveiled plans for the 2 WTC tower by architectural studio BIG Bjarke Ingels Group . The new building is part of the masterplan by Daniel Libeskind, a 16 acre area with plenty of greenery, a museum, Memorial Plaza and 5 iconic towers framing the area that was once occupied by the Twin Towers, now home to the 9/11 Memorial Museum designed by Davis Brody Bond.
Three of the five buildings planned by Libeskind have already been built: 150 Greenwich Street (Four World Trade Center) by Fumihiko Maki, the Freedom Tower (One World Trade Center) and  7 World Trade Center by David Childs; 175 Greenwich Street (Three World Trade Center) designed by architect Richard Rogers is currently being completed, and the building assigned to BIG is due to be completed in 2021, exactly 20 years after the attack.
The tower designed by architect Bjarke Ingels and his team is located where TriBeCa, a residential district with hanging gardens, meets the World Trade Center; hence its shape, which if seen from the north appears to consist of a stack of lots of individual buildings with big green patios, while from the square it looks like a tall, slender skyscraper.
