14th International Architecture Exhibition / Fundamentals
The theme of the 14th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, curated by architect Rem Koolhaas, has been announced: the title will be "Fundamentals". The new edition will be transformed into a big research exhibition conducted directly by the curator with the inclusion of the participating nations. The exhibition?s duration will be prolonged to almost 6 months, like the Art Exhibition; it will open on 7 June 2014 and close on 23 November 2014. As in past editions, exhibitions and events will take place in a number of locations in the city, in addition to the Gardens and the Arsenal.

The curator, architect Rem Koolhaas, says that his exhibition will focus on architecture itself, rather than architects, and particularly the fundamental history and elements architecture and architects cannot do without, no matter when and where they work, such as the door, the floor, the ceiling, and so on.
To promote better understanding of the wealth and variety of the fundamentals of architecture, the Central Pavilion of the Gardens, the Arsenal and the National Pavilions will host three complementary events offering a vast retrospective of the evolution of architecture in various different countries over the past 100 years.
