The countdown has begun for the 57th Salone del Mobile International Furniture Show in Milan. Between April 17 and 22 more than 300,000 visitors are expected to come from over 165 different countries to view the stands of more than 2000 exhibitors in 200,000 square metres of exhibition space in the Rho trade fair district. The event offers an opportunity to discover interior design from all over the world, in search of the perfect products for contemporary living, products of the future offering the ideal combination of design, technology, flexibility and sustainability. What better occasion for showing off the innovative design of surfaces by the Iris Ceramica Group and its leading brands: Iris Ceramica, Fiandre Architectural Surfaces, FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti, Ariostea and SapienStone. “Exhibiting in the world’s most important design show is an important confirmation of the progress we have made in our industry,” says Iris Ceramica Group CEO Federica Minozzi, clarifying the reasons for the new way the Group will be presenting its ceramic surfaces: “We have decided to present our companies to the public in a group stand because we’re convinced that the breadth of our range represents an important added value for responding to and anticipating the demands of the international market”.

At the world’s most important furniture and design show, Iris Ceramica Group will participate for the first time in the International Bathroom Show in hall 22 with a Group stand – stand D33-D35 – designed by Archilinea. In the 200 square metre stand, visitors can discover the latest new ceramic surfaces made by the Group’s leading brands: Iris Ceramica, Fiandre Architectural Surfaces, FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti, Ariostea and SapienStone. The exhibition installation designed by Archilinea, built on two levels and entitled WELLNESS, SALUS PER AQUAM, focuses on the aesthetic qualities, flexibility and potential of ceramic as a material for architecture and interior design. The project shows off not only the Iris Ceramica Group’s exclusive floor and wall coverings, but its innovative furnishings for the bathroom, wellness area and all spaces for personal care and wellness.

The architects designed a lightweight structure that invites the public to come in with a series of vertical openings, creating an intriguing now-you-see-it/now-you-don’t effect between the inside and outside. The exhibition route offers inspiration for design and focuses on the potential for maximum customisation of spaces, from finishes to matching furnishings and accessories: floors, walls and bathroom fixtures such as countertops, washbasins, tubs and showers. A concept of total design establishing visual continuity and underlining the idea of the uninterrupted surface with big 300x150 cm slabs permitting product customisation: the Group has in fact perfected an innovative ultra-high definition printing technology known as “DYS Design Your Slabs” which permits on-demand customisation of ceramic slabs.
The innovations implemented by Iris Ceramica Group and presented at the Salone del Mobile demonstrate how the concept of coverings has evolved and how ceramic slabs have become an essential part of the world of design. Not just simple coverings, but materials for architecture and interior design responding to consumers’ needs with unique, distinctive, customised spaces.
