MAD56 Renovation of a former arcade in Pollenzo Cuneo

In Pollenzo (CN), not far from the ruins of the Roman theatre, a 19th century arcade has been converted into a modern home by architectural studio MAD56. The total renovation of the building was performed by architect Andrea Corino of MAD56 in a way demonstrating respect for the local landscape, preserving the architectural idea of the 19th century arcade on the outside of the building. On the inside, on the other hand, innovative solutions are used to create a loft of contemporary design, preferring use of natural materials maintaining continuity with the building’s past.

The home is divided over three levels: a living area with bathrooms and utility rooms on the ground floor, an open space on the first floor including a sitting room and kitchen with custom-designed minimalist furnishings; and lastly, past the private bathroom on the mezzanine level, the bedroom area in the loft, where the bleached wood timbers are visible and there is a view of the kitchen below.
