Laprimastanza, dock52 contemporary home in Bologna

The architects of Laprimastanza (Davide Agostini, Matteo Battistini, Steve Camagni, Francesco Ceccarelli) recently completed an interior design project near the Modern Art Museum of Bologna (MAMbo), transforming an old garage into a low-cost contemporary home for a young couple.

The architects preserved the location’s underground image for example with visible piping and lighting. The single big space contains a slate grey parallelepiped, a volume based on the golden ratio destined to contain utility areas with a presence that defines and diversifies the space. The living areas are arranged around it, while the simple bedroom area is upstairs.
The project also includes a container element covering the entire back wall, covered with backlit etched glass panels, and two large windows lighting up the whole space with natural daylight.
A strip of green plants by the windows creates a green filter mediating between indoors and outdoors.
