1100architect's Manhattan Triplex wins the 2014 RADA Award
Frankfurt, USA, New York, USA,
1100architect, an architectural practice with offices in New York and Frankfurt co-founded by Jürgen Riehm, a member of the jury of the international Next Landmark contest organised by Floornature, has been awarded a prize at the 2014 RADA Residential Architecture Design Awards for architectural interiors for a home in Manhattan.
The Manhattan Triplex completes a project the architects began a number of years ago, when they renovated a duplex in a building constructed prior to the Second World War. The owners bought the apartment upstairs, so the home now has three levels. This third unit was modernised for use as a guest suite and studio, in the same style as the duplex itself.
The walls are white lacquered panels opening up onto various different spaces, in a home in minimalist style flooded with natural light by day and with diffuse, indirect light in the evening.
The project's elegance won 1100architect an award at the 2014 RADA or Residential Architecture Design Awards, presented by AIA, the American Institute of Architecture, to reward excellence in interior architecture.
