FICO the world’s largest agri-food park

Italian excellence from field to fork ” is the slogan used to present FICO the large agri-food park currently being built in Bologna over an area of 10 hectares. The park will present Italian bio-diversity in agriculture and breeding, as well as the vast variety of preparations and dishes that make Italian cuisine famous worldwide. The opening is planned for October 2017. Italian areas of excellence in other fields have also been involved in its creation, like Iris ceramica and FMG fabbrica marmi e graniti with its Active range. They have supplied the coverings for the Refreshments area, which includes kiosks, trattorias and Michelin-starred restaurants where visitors can sample Italian dishes.

FICO is an acronym for Fabbrica Italiana Contadina and will present Italian bio-diversity from cultivation and animal breeding. Inside the park there will be two hectares of fields and outdoor stables to discover Italian agriculture first hand. The remaining 8 hectares of the park will be destined for a wide range of activities, with farms producing meat, fish, cheese, pasta, oil, pastries and beer so that visitors can fully understand food production and transformation. There will also be refreshment areas, shops and markets where visitors can consume products and enjoy Michelin-starred restaurants from various regions in Italy. The park will have educational and recreational areas (sport, reading, services and kids’ areas). Finally, the world’s largest agri-food park will also havespaces for learning or educational games dedicated to earth, fire, the sea, animals, wine and the future and a multi-functional conference centre, with the headquarters of the FICO Foundation and offices of three universities.
